new to MS exams

So I am a nub to MS exams. After I pass my CCNA I want to go for a MS cert I was thinking the 70-640. I am some what familar with server 03 and figured this would be a good place to start? also I know this may be a even bigger nub question but does passing that exam make me MCITP Certified ?

No, it does not. If you pass the exam 70-640 TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring you receive the corresponding MCTS certification. I would say this might be a good exam to start with. You can take the MS exams in any order, so it really depends on you. Do you plan on getting the MCITP: Server Administrator or the MCITP: Enterprise Admin?

Figured I would go for wich ever gives me the most exposure to active directory. I hope to stear my career path towards being a network engineer but I figured this is always a good skill to have for any IT job. What would be your recommendation?

Well, if we go by the Wiki definition of your career goal:
A network engineer is an information technology professional who designs, implements, and troubleshoots computer networks. In general, a network engineer will not regularly perform system administration tasks, but will instead concentrate on high-level network related duties such as network architecture, network design, choosing of network devices, and network policies.

Network Engineers will rarely be involved with direct user support, as they are normally placed as tier three support.

Then I would have to conclude that the Enterprise Admin is really what you would want to go after. However, I believe that you should discuss this on the Job forum and get some input from people working in this role currently, as my impression is that full MCITP:EA would probably not be needed for the career you desire and the extra effort might be better spent on completing the CCNP. No sense in wasting the time and money (not to mention brain cells) on a cert that might ultimately do you very little good.

Not dumb at all. I just think it might be a good idea to get the perspective of folks who are currently doing what you want to do. No sense in doing a lot of work that would not really help you reach your goals.

If you are looking for money you are going to need alot more than just a CCNA and a MCTS yes they want certifications. however, you have to prove you know your stuff there are book smart and head smart people. anyone can read a book. The books do not teach you everything though. THey do not tell you person A is screaming at you while server b is generating this issues. and its going to take 4 hours and you only have 2 hours to get it up and running. Stress managament and being able to use your head is a biggy. i am only getting my certs to expand my resume for credentials. But the 83-640 is really easy. THe 70-642 will go hand and hand for alot of it with cisco as for ipv6 and ipv4 and subnetting and supernetting.
    Thanks Corey
