I received an email from the IT manager saying that I'm underqualified.
Should I e-mail back and confirm that I've received the email and say something good like: Thanks for revewing my application to X job and etccc??
advice?

That about sums it up. +1
Also, good job on atleast applying for the job. I did not nearly meet the requirements posted for my job, but got it anyway. Alot of people say they dont have the high standards that job postings require... the thing is, those are their requirements for hiring. Not for applying. Apply to any and every job you think you could do. Worse that can happen? Your resume gets discarded. The difference is, atleast you had a small percentage of atleast getting an interview. By not applying, you have 0 percentage.

I think I should reply and say thanks for reviewing my application. Better than to stay silent and assume I never got the message.
It's a small world and I think it's a good mannar to do so (thats what my heart is telling me). -

I agree with you. Replying will only take a few seconds and I can't see how it would be a negative thing for you.

Hyper-Me Banned Posts: 2,059You could say something like
"Thanks for the reply in regards to the XYZ position. I appreciate your honesty on the matter. If ABC company has an opening in the future that you feel would align with my skillset, please don't hesitate to contact me."
or something like that -
