book on SNMP
newman555
Hi!
Well, I think that it's not easy to find a good book, at least not when you are new to the subject. So can anyone recommend me a book, tutorial, or any other reading to get me familiar with SNMP?
I googled it, of course, read a little bit about MIB, basic messages, traps, but I need to learn what can be done with SNMP, how to implement it in a simple network (really basic stuff), or actually, how to get started.
I would really appreciate any good advice...Thank you!

Yeah, did that. but...I'd appreciate if someone who actually implemented snmp, used it, to tell me what's the best way to start. And as I said, there are a lot of books out there, but in my experience, not every book is well written.
Maybe I should be more specific...I have a simple network set up at home, few routers and switches. How complicated it would be to get some basic info from the network using snmp? I read some tutorials on what is snmp, about mib's, reading them, OID, but...implementation? how hard? where to start?
Thanks again!
