Getting started with security+: need advice...

Hey guys how you'll doing?
I'm Yosi, 22 years old from Israel. I've decided to take the security+ exam and wonder what is the best way to go at it? (Self study).

Is this book anygood?

I am not familiar with all of the books available for the new 2009 updated exam. But, I can tell you that you should download the exam objectives from the CompTIA web site, and as you read the book, be sure that it covers every objective.

Security+, or any IT security exam for that fact, has a very broad base of information from which you can get a question. So, be sure to follow the book study up with a lot Internet browsing on the same subjects.

I would be sure that study guides from Sybex will contain good information.

There is a high cost for taking this exam, so take enough time to cover the subject--including disaster recovery and forensics, as well as prevention. You don't want to have to pay for it twice!

JanMike gives good advice about downloadng the objectives. You want to have a copy of the objectives when studying for any exam.

I also like the advice from Veritas Libertas:), but if you're in Israel that book may not be available there. I think it's only sold in the United States, Canada, and the U.K. right now.

I used the Certification Kit Amazon.com: CompTIA Security+ Certification Kit: SY0-201 (9780470404867): Emmett Dulaney, James M. Stewart, David R. Miller, Michael Gregg: Books it was worth it... passed on the first try, and the street smart's book was a great addition to the kit... with it you just dont learn the theory but its applications.

and guys thanks for your tips, I started out with sybex 4th edition and CBT NUGGETS videos for now. I will download the objectives and see how I feel about it.
