I'm trying to better understand what is the security threat using virtuallizations such as VMware?

can you try to explain in simple words?

As far as risks, the primary risk is a single point of failure. In other words if a physical server is hosting several virtual servers and the physical server goes down, all of the virtual servers also go down.

Most server virtialization technologies (such as VMWare and Hyper-V) support clustering to protect against a single point of failure.
