Is WDS only available from 2k8? I'm going to be deploying about 45 Win7 pc's, looking for a good deployment solution.

You can install it on 2003 (I think it comes with 2003 R2? SP2?) We were running it on 2003 for a while. However, I don't know whether you could deploy Windows 7 from a 2003 WDS.

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

You can install WDS on 2003, and you can deploy 2000/XP/Vista/7 with it as well.

There are some versioning differences when used on varying OS'

    2003: all the regular stuff
2008: has the 2003 stuff as well as multicasting
2008 R2: Has previous version stuff as well as segmented multicasting (puts slower clients on seperate streams), and dynamic driver provisioning.

Yeah you can use it on 2003 and it works just fine.
