Hey guys (and gals). Like others, I have been lurking in the forums for a little while and have been seeing some really good advise. I just passed the A+ Essentials yesterday and am taking the 702 next Wednesday. I then plan on taking the Security+ by the end of the month.
Long story short, I have just about completed Darril's book and a Comptia Security+ book and was wondering what cert I should be looking at after completing the Security+ test. No experience yet (that's why i'm getting the A+ as well).
Thanks again for the advise

Welcome!
There are many others but for now the Sec+ should be good for you. The next one that comes to mind is the SSCP SSCP Education & Certification which has a 1 year of exp requirement. Anything from Sans is also good SANS: Computer Security Training, Network Security Research, InfoSec Resources (some are a lot "better" than others in terms of popularity) but ISC2 (sscp, cissp and others) and sans both cost alot of money. The S+ is entry level but it is also some what popular.
What kind of security do you want to get into? InfoSec is a very vast field. Also you may get better responses from some of our InfoSec pros if you post in the section Security Certifications - TechExams.net IT Certification Forums -
veritas_libertas Member Posts: 5,746 ■■■■■■■■■■Welcome! I would start with the Security+. The first responder asked a question that I would like to hear the answer to as well, what area of IT Security do you want to be involved in? Security in IT is a very broad area.
- Forensics
- System Administration
- Network Administration
- Security Audits
- Penetration Testing

I would advise you take Network+ before taking the Security+. If you wanted to go off something right after your A+ I would go after Windows 7 70-680 or Server+. I'm not sure what your experience level is. A+, and Network+ are good foundations to branch off into other things with like Security+, Server+, Cisco, and Microsoft exams.Working On:

CIW Server Administrator 5%
CIW Inter-Networking Professional 5%
