Should I get my MCSE and then upgrade to MCITP?

I'm about to take the Vista test (getting the easy one done first) and was then going to pursue the rest of the MCITP:EA cert.
However, I read a couple people on another forum saying that I should go after my MCSE and then upgrade it to the MCITP and I will be a lot more valuable.
Do you guys tend to agree with this or is it not worth the extra effort?

There seems to be a fair amount of discussion about this in other threads and doesn't warrant a new thread most likely.
