MAC Filtering

Does anyone know the general procedure to setup a MAC register requirement on a Windows 2000 network? I cant tell if 3rd party software is needed or not. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

    I don't understand your question. (I just completed Net+ & am starting 70-216).

    Are you talking about a DHCP RESERVATION? That is where, though you have set up ranges of IP numbers to hand out, you want certain users to ALWAYS get the same IP number.

    On the Server:
    Just right-click the scope (your address range in the DHCP snap-in) and use the "New Reservation" dialog. You will need the IP# you want to reserve, and the MAC of the device for that client.
