Passed ICND1 on 2nd try

Passed the email last Friday with an 864. I used Chris Bryant's videos, the Odom book, subnettingquestions.com and or course this site. The 2nd time was much easier as I knew what to expect for sims... The first time I had not read Odom's book so I feel like that filled in the blanks and I also needed to improve my understanding of subnetting to the point where I could do the conversions under 1 minute.

Onto the 2nd exam. After that I am thinking of doing the ASA specialist, has anyone done that or have any thoughts about it. I work with them at my job so at the very least it will help in that regard.

Congrats. I know the feeling failing the first time. I went back a week later though and passed. I feel like I rush through the exam the first time. The sims got me as well.

Congrats. I believe you need to CCNA:S before you can do ASA specialist (I could be wrong but you need CCNA:S before you can do CCSP). I want to do it as well. You are going to find that the CCSP material is not as cleanly laid out like the CCNP material.

    Congrats on the pass icon_smile.gif

Nothing stopping you doing the ASA Specialist exam before the CCNA-Security but doing them as prescribed will help you greatly. If you do the all the CCSP exam prior to obtaining your CCNA-Security you wont get certification recognised until you do pass that exam.

Congrats, I too am one of many who failed it the first time. It's amazing how much more comfortable with sim's you are 2nd time around.

    Congratulations!! icon_cheers.gif

The Specialist Certifications are only good for two years. To re-certify you either have to do the relevant exam(s) again or pass a CCIE Written (or CCIE Lab).

Cisco ASA Specialist - Career Certifications & Paths - Cisco Systems
Complete one of the following recertification options every two years:
    • Re-take and pass all exams for each Specialist certification indicated on the specific certification page. Please note: this includes ALL exams whether refreshed or not.
    • Pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam
Achieving or recertifying CCDE or any CCIE automatically extends your active Specialist certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.

How do you take the sims in ICND1 do they use packet tracer or BOSON?

Also can you use shortcut command like sh run instead of show running-config?
