    Good for them, I guess. Now that email outsourcing has been blocked, hopefully they can come up with a workable alternative. That may be to increase spending on their current on-site system, if it needs improvement, or at least continue maintaining a comparatively expensive on-site system.

    Schools have a difficult time with email since people (particularly students) are used to and expect all of the benefits of Gmail at the same cost (i.e. free). Everyone wants unlimited quotas, zero spam, zero downtime, high performance, and anywhere access from any device. And apparently they also want it on-site. This is expensive to do, you need the software, hardware, and staff to pull it off, never mind the space, power, and cooling. This is a tough sell considering Google does it free.

    Well the article does point out potential legal/security issues with "cloud" computing AKA outsourcing your information storage externally. Servers spread out to different regions/countries with different requirements is a big hurdle to over come.
