I thought I was ready for this.
Some of the questions on the test, I just guessed at.
I thought there were a lot of Network+ questions.
I need to get myself some better reading material.

You were probably using the Vista exam as a reference for the difficulty of this exam. It is very different.

Many IT pros complained about the level of the Vista exam, and MS made it harder as a result. It is much more in line with the other MCTS exams. Just hit the books and make sure you understand all of the new features and that you understand the business side of supporting 7.

what books did you read ? MS book is really good and for me it was enough to pass but I read it twice and i've done a lot commands myself.

I just did a pre-assessment for this test and it bit me hard.
Pretty different than what I saw with the Vista exam.

Must hit the books now...

I passed this exam on Monday and I must say it was alot harder than I was expecting. II know people say its a hard exam but you dont really expect it to be as hard untill you sit it. Seeing is beliving as they say.

I really found the sticky on this site to be helpful sort of gave me the correct pointers.

didnt really use the MS press book as I found it dry.


I also set my self up with a wee lab at home nothing fancy just a laptop and a desktop which ran a virtual server 2008R2 box.

Bummer! How long did you prepare? What was your prep like?

Unfortunately, no second shot. I wish.
I studied the MS Press book, I also studied Windows 7 Inside and Out.
I found them both to be very basic. I also used some of the info from this forum. If there had been any virtuals on the exam, I would of past.
I practice all of this over and over. Review all the new features in Windows 7. I was playing with Windows 7 since the beta release.
As "RobertKaucher" was saying. I pretty much referenced it off the Vista exam.
I really didn't concentrate on my command lines. That was a good portion of the exam
Should I retake this ASAP, after restudying of course?
Or should I put it on the back burner and move on to 642 & 646
After failing a cert, you sort of lose motivation...
