Quick Question about a Catalyst 8540....
Drakonblayde
I've got a pair of Catalyst 8540's that are both doing the same thing... they boot up and get stuck at asking if I want to enter initial configuration dialog. The status LED on the route processer with the console port goes orange after going green, indicating that something didn't load...
My question is, does it require both power supplies to properly boot? Unfortunately, I've only got one 220v outlet, so booting two power supplies at the same time just ain't happening, not today anyway

Bleh, nevermind. Turned out the DB9 that was hooked into my laptop was faulty. Replaced it and the console worked fine. It's like my teacher always said, check layer 1 first

We all know there are 7 layers to the osi, but what most of you dont know is there is a layer 8. Yes, thats right, there is a LAYER 8, the user. So, when all 7 layers seem to work just fine, check the last and final layer, 8.
LOL
Its an old military IT thing, sorry

hehe, my class has always referred to the 8th layer as layer 0 (in keeping with computer numbering).
