I have one question, I accumulate 50 hours of vacation time, when the person put the two weeks notice, Do you loose that time or do they pay you the time?

    Congrats on the new job.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

In California, they have to pay you. My last paycheck from my old job was nice and big because of that :)

They don't necessarily have to pay you (some states mandate it, others dont). Generally I see that companies will pay you the vacation time you have already earned, but of course not future time earned.

Congrats on the new job! Small IT consultancy probably working in the smb segment? Sounds like my job! Lots of migration and SBS work I would wager.

That's the kind of job I was looking for, I managed a lot of servers but there are not plan to migrate to new OS, in the company they will stack with the same OS for long time, so my skill would be outdated very soon.

    Now the picture is different.

It's true. I reveived an email from my new supervidor and he told me that the first day at work we will go to install one SBS 2008. It's going to be interesting.

Congrats and good luck. You should get the hours earned in a check. If not, I would contact the local labor Board office. I had to take a prior employer to them, he thought I was young and wouldn't know he was trying to screw me.

I am not one to usually go that route, but if you knew this guy, he deserved it and had a history of abusing all his employees. They came in and audited the payroll and he had to pay out a lot to prior/current staff menmbers due to illegal practices and then had to pay some fines. Even though Texas is a right to work state, there are many laws protecting workers.

    Once MCSE 2k3 completed:

    WGU: BS in IT, Design/Management

Finish MCITP:EA, CCNA, PMP by end of 2012

After that, take a much needed vacation!!!!!
