Equipment Price Points
Hey gents,
Let's post some commonly used equipment for CCNP along with their associated price ranges (low to high) and make it a sticky for manageability. It's hard to know if you're getting ripped off or not.
If a consolidated thread like this already exists can you please post the link.
Cheers,
C

Prices vary based on the availability. Someone was clearing out their warehouse and offering 2651XMs (256D/32F) -- and they were going for between $75-$125. Now even the 2651XMs (128D/32F) seem to be back up over $150.
When I started building my home lab I didn't think 2501s were worth more than $25 -- unfortunately everyone else did. I bought $10 2513s (with MAX memory & flash) instead.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -

Personally, I don't think buying hardware is the way to go anymore. For most simple labs I use Dyanmips/GNS3. If I need switches in the mix, or feel that Dynamips isn't going accommodate the complexity of my lab adequately, I rent rack time from CCIE training vendors. The best deal I've found so far is from Proctor Labs (IPExpert). When they are running the 2 for 1 specials you can get a ton of 8 hour blocks for $500. Way cheaper than bidding for hardware. -

The 2950T isn't worth that -- might as well try for a steal on a 24 port 3550 instead.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -

Agreed, I got a 3550 for $150 the thing was practically brand new, and 2 2950's SIs for about $35 each. You have to be patient, and limit your bids, a sniping app like Jbidwatcher can be helpful.
Here are a few recent 3550s that went for under $200.
