I am trying to setup a test situation so I can practice the "IP Route" Command.
I am still very much a beginner...
How would one connect two routers together (R2 & R3)? Can you show the commands I would run on both routers? I would like R2's interface to be 192.168.2.1 and R3's to be 192.168.2.2.

johnwest43 Member Posts: 294using serial interfaces and a dte/dce cable connect the DCE end to r2 and the DTE end to r3. Actual router commands are in red.
r2:
conf t
int s0/0 (or whatever interface you wish to use)
ip add 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
clockrate 64000 (or whatever speed you wish)
no shut
r3:
conf t
int s0/0
ip add 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.0
no shut
you can also add the optional encap ppp on both routers to use point to point protocol.
Hope this helps!!CCNP: ROUTE B]x[/B , SWITCH B]x[/B, TSHOOT [X ] Completed on 2/18/2014 -

Don't worry, I've been at it for a while now and I'm still always forgetting the clock rate.
