Okay heres the deal,

I am currently CCNA certified, and due to start my CCNP at a local Cisco academy in September.

Im currently working in London doing Desktop Support, primarily Windows Desktop /Server and Mac support (but no Linux) .
And have been doing so for 7/8 years
In my current role Im not using any Cisco skills and not doing any support of that type.

Obviously once I finish my CCNP course in Dec 2011, I will obviously want to get a job to utilize my qualification.

The question I have is in how can I best prepare myself i.e with what skills and experience so i can try and get a CCNP level job when the time comes.

Any advice appreciated

Since I've never heard of an entry level CCNP position, I'd say experience at the CCNA level.

Move jobs now to one where you can get cisco experience. Then hopefully by the time you have your CCNP and on the job cisco experience you'll be able to move into a more cisco networking specific role.

This is going to be a problem. Certs only go so far, you need experience to go with them. Try to find a position working with Cisco gear while going for the NP. Without experience, I doubt the NP will do much for you.
