I'm looking at A05 as a way to break in to Citrix. Despite working in IT for quite a while I have always been the user and not the admin. A recent layoff has given me the much needed dope-slap for motivation on bringing skills current and learning new ones. MCITP:EA, VCP, etc.
At better than three thousand bucks, is the Citrix course worth the money?

Can you self-study for this? There are cheap and free resources available for it, such as The Real Citrix CCA Exam Preparation Kit, Citrix eDocs, Citrix TV, CXA-101-1W, and Citrixxperience. I'd suggest getting started with XenApp by self-studying and working with a home lab, and if you really want to do a Citrix course, do Advanced Administration for Citrix XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server 2008. This course is about the same price, and is a prerequisite for the CCAA certification.
Also, if you are interested in doing the VCP, keep in mind that doing an approved course is a prerequisite for the certification, so if you have a limited training budget you might want to save for that. Good luck and welcome to the forums!!MentholMoose
