multiple tabs in SecureCRT

Hi all, i've been watching alot of training videos that use multi tab function in SecureCRT. I'm wondering what options there are for setting up multiple tabs. Are they primarily putting an interface from each device into a vlan and then telneting to each device thus creating a new tab for each device from their computer which is also on the vlan?
Right now I have an access server setup so I just remote into my laptop which is consoled to the AS. THen I can reverse telnet from the AS to each device but I don't know (or think) how I could use my AS and still have multi tabs.... any advice?

I love using my AS but having multiple tabs would be great for seeing all output on every device
