Hi folks, I'm new here and just wanted to post an introduction. I've always been interested in computers and information technology as a whole. For the past 10+ years I've been doing the recreational computer thing (dating all the way back to late middle school early high school) and decided this year with a wife and kids that I'd make it official and actually put my foot in the door of something that's been a hobby for years.
I passed the 70-271 Tuesday and I plan to test for the 70-272 next Tuesday, after that my certification plan has me going to the MCTS Windows 7 exam and then CompTIA A+. Right now that's where I'll be starting, I'm enrolled at MyComputerCareer.com in Raleigh, NC so they're stepping me their program to get the certs. Say what you will, I know that they have their critics, so far it's been well worth the money, the practice tests alone would have helped me pass the 271 but I also get in class hands on experience as well as access to Microsoft's online E-Learning IT Academy to really hammer things to home. I can honestly say I learned more in the past four weeks then I knew in the previous 10 years and that's really hard to do.
Anyways, I know that's a lot for an introduction, lol. I'll continue my IT path as I get chances to and eventually try to work for Network+ and MCITP certifications regarding Server 2003 and 2008 and maybe specialist in Cisco networking or what not... Yeah I'm excited, anyways, hope to contribute what I can to this great community.

IT Academy is a good resource. I have that through Western Governors University. Teaches stuff deeper than the MS Press books but sometimes the labs don't work which just makes me print out the instructions and do them on my own,No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -
Michael.J.Palmer Member Posts: 407 ■■■□□□□□□□Yeah I feel ya there. I've printed out instructions and use the VirtualBox session of XP I've got set up on my laptop to do the labs. Microsofts Virtual Machine software that they use up there isn't exactly the most user friendly when it comes to doing those labs. A guy can only handle a lab freezing up so many times before cursing the gods, .-Michael Palmer
