Just installed SQL 2005 Express and the Management Studio but cannot connect to the server, the error message is "When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings, SQL server does not allow remote connections! Error 26." Any ideas?

Is the service running? There is a checkbox if I recall correctly inside the sql server configuration manager which allows remote connections and enables TCP/IP and Named pipes. You might want to check there first. -

This is a pretty common error. You need to setup TCP/IP in Configuration Manager.
Why are you using 2005 Express? 2008 R2 Express supports larger DBs!
