Help!, telnet for PIX 515e

Hy!, i try to connect a cisco pix 515e via telnet, i use hyperterminal in windows 7, using USB to serial adapter and then via console.
how to connect?, (also wich to select the COM .. 2, 3)??

    I always use COM1.

    puTTy is a much better alternative to hyperterminal.

    So are you trying to telnet or console in?

    sorry for delay, but i connect console. but i find that is com 5. this is my first work in a cisco equipment.

    Yup you really need to keep in mind the difference between console'ing in and Telnet/SSH, the latter requires IP connectivity (among others) whereas initially the console just requires knowing which COM-port on the host PC you are connecting to (and following Cisco's Serial settings, 9600/8 bit/No Parity is their usual).
    So set your terminal software for Com5 if that is what your USB adapter is using.
    We responded to the Year 2000 issue with "Y2K" solutions...isn't this the kind of thinking that got us into trouble in the first place?
