I was just in the store and passed by the surge protectors so I figured i'd pick one up for my rack, just curious as to whether this is good enough or not. It's a belkin 8 outlet strip, i've got 4 routers and 4 switches on my rack.
3550 joules
500V clamping voltage
Is that good enough or should I look at getting a APC/UPS?

If you paid more, then you might actually have an effective surge protector. Its hard to say without knowing the exact model, Belkin makes devices that fall into both categories. Generally, a good surge protector will come with some sort of warranty on the gear that you plug into it.
