to have RAID you need to have dynamic disks so RAID is a dynamic disk.
Basic volumes exist only on basic disks. Basic volumes correspond to the primary or extended partitions on the disk. You can extend basic volumes on the same disk, using only contiguous free space.
Dynamic volumes exist only on dynamic disks. Dynamic volumes can include non-contiguous space on the same disk, or space on other dynamic disks
