Congrats! Glad to hear the good news.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

Also you ever thought about a new certification track with your new job? will they provide free certification training etc? also were there any technical questions asked regarding the role? or what kind of interview questions were there.

    Good questions.

I'll be pursing the same tracks that I am currently: CCNP and CCVP, as both will be critical in the company. The company pays for 50% of approved courses, I have yet to figure out exactly what 'approved' includes. As far as technical questions go, there were really only two things. One was explaining the job environment and what the projects currently are, and if I was aware of the technologies. Then they sat me down at a switch and a router and gave me a piece of paper with instructions and a laptop to work with. Essentially it was basics, SVI, SNMP communities, default routes, VLANs, ACL's, no big deal. They told me it would be easy, and they were right. I had forgotten how to do the SNMP command (I think there was only one paragraph in the 400 pages switch book about it XD) but other than that it was cake.

Haha, hopefully I'll be in the same company peaking my current position, and moving up.

    Oh, and drinking. FINALLY.

I'm impressed if you have actually convinced parts of your family of that. Personally, I make it very clear from the onset that I have zero desire to help someone troubleshoot/fix/install PC/network gear. There are a small number of people I make exceptions for though.
