Do you believe in good vibes?

I read one of Scott Adam's books a few years back where he told of a technique for achieving his goals. He would write down his attainment of objectives 15x times a day until life produced the goods.

It sounded rather convincing and seems to have worked for him so I tried it twice this year for getting a better job. Everyday I would write something like "I will get a good job offer in {month}" 15x times.

I mention this because the goal has just been reached for the second time. I'm all too aware of coincidences but this is uncanny as I've been job searching for the most of 2x years.

I don't care for new-age stuff and the like, but this has me intrigued. What do yers reckon, do you feel the vibes? Please, no mention of The Secret; no interest in discussing that.

I believe in good vibes, just not writing things down. I belive you make your own luck and that is all it comes down to. This forum is filled with people trying to educate and better themselves and it will pay off for anyone putting in the time and effort.

People comment that I am lucky but I am not, I am just commited, I work hard at my certs I work hard when I am in work and I work hard looking for the next fat pay cheque, it is easy to look in from the outside and call me lucky when i land a new contract but if they only knew what was involved.

Being positive most definitely attracts positive vibes. My life has changed so much since I've realized this. :)

If you don't know where you're going, how will you know when you get there?

While writing it down doesn't necessarily make it true, it does remind you of your goals so that you hopefully do something about it.

So how often and long do you have to do this? If I write down "I will win a million dollars" do I also need to buy a lottery ticket, or is finding a winning lottery ticket on the ground a given part of accomplishing that goal? icon_lol.gif

I believe having goals and keeping a positive attitude with regards to those goals will help you to reach them. A few disclaimers though--keep goals realistic, you must WORK toward achieving your goals, have a plan, stay with your plan (some adjustments may be necessary), don't let others discourage you.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

Yep, I believe in magic fairy dust also....

While I agree that thinking positive and doing positive things will have a positive affect on your life, I don't believe writing something down 15 times will help you achieve it. It may help you stay focused, but I don't think it has anything to do with "vibes".

The same with luck. I don't think there is such a thing. People who put themselves in good situations have good things happen to them. Its not some mystical luck making anything happen.

I wouldn't have paid thousands for this chair if I didn't think it would perform as expected.

I'll let you know Mike, I think effort is still involved. icon_lol.gif My good vibe count is kinda low at the moment; the pixies are pissed off about all the bad kharma I've accumulated over the years.

Everyone should read Scott Adams' books though. There just damn funny.
