I ran across a job ad that states
"Must be US Citizens able to obtain FULL Background Investigation (FBI) clearance"
It didn't state secret or Top secret, does anyone know what this might be or what would be involved?

The highest investigation that the FBI has is the SSBI (i.e. TS backround check.) However, I am noticing the strange way it is stated... Is this a government job? If not, the could just be talking about a Local Agency Check. -

On the surface it sounds like just a check into your criminal history. What type of job is this and what agency is involved? -

This is a contractor working on an Air force base dealing with DHS (Department of Home Land security)

I was thinking it might just be a National Agency Check -

If you are working for DHS and on an AF base, you're probably going to need at least a secret. More then likely you will eventually have to get a TS. Its hard to tell though. I would email to get clarification.I bring nothing useful to the table... -

At the very least they'll want you to fill out n one of these http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/SF86.pdf and it's a lot of info.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

That's a horrible way to phrase it, but I'm pretty sure all that means is an FBI background check and eligibility for a clearance. -

Yea that would make some sense, is a FBI background check the same as a NAC ? -

FYI, in case anyone was wondering, the recruiter ended up calling me about this, and they did want someone with secret that they could then move up to top secret later on.
I think they were pretty interested in me, but not having a security clearance knocked me out of contention. -

A lot of companies will give you a secret clearance with no problems. I'm surprised they knocked you out of the running just because of that.
