Study the CCNA objectives found on Cisco's Web site and practice with a router or a router simulator.
How much time should be given to preparation depends entirely on you - both in how quickly you can learn (and retain) new material and in how much knowledge of general networking you already have.
In addition, it depends on what your other responsibilities are and how much time you can invest. If I say I study 3 nights a week, there's a big difference between one hour a night and eight hours a night.
In short, I would not be helping you by telling you how long you need to study. Study until you are very comfortable with the concepts and can perform the commands easily on a Cisco router, whether it take you one month or more than a year. I've known people to have passed within days, and I've known very intelligent people to have failed it several times within the course of a year.
Best of luck.
