I am going to start my CCENT/CCNA cert (see parallel post) and i was wondering if you guys can recommend the proper brands/models of equipment (on the cheap) I should get?
I already have a Cisco Catayst 3500XL 12 port
Will that work ok? What else should i get. I think i can get a Cisco 2950WS 12 port cheap as well....
Thanks

The 3500XL is functionally identical to the 2900XL so they're also good for a 3rd switch (or 2nd if you're on a real tight budget), but you really want a 2950 or two if at all possible.
2900XL > 2950SI > 2950EI > 3550
You'll also want a couple routers. 2 is good, 3 is better. The 2500 and 2600 series routers should be the minimum you're looking at, though the 2600XM's and the 1760's are better investments overall.
Take your time, look for deals, and stay away from the pre-assembled kits. There's a lot to be learned in the lab building process.
