Internet Connection Sharing
Hi there,
i have e problem making an internet sharing, on my windows xp....
i have an windows xp connected to the DSL internet connection and i want to share this connection to my laptop, i have enabled shering on my network connection to another LAN which i use to connect my laptop from throught a cross over cable i also configured so that latop take DHCP IP and it obtane ip from my home computer.
The problem is when i plag cable to the laptop from home computer it takes ip but the internet goes down on both computers untill i unplug the cable

Gawd Member Posts: 132Not sure exactly how your setup there.
But make sure your not assigning your laptop the same IP as your desktop.

On my desktop computer on the internet connection the ips are:
ip: 192.168.1.50
sub: 255.255.255.0
def.G. 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
those ip-s ara obtained from my provider routers... i shared this

ip: 192.168.0.1
sub: 255.255.255.0
def.G. 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1
when i connect my loptop it optain ip-s like this
ip: 192.168.0.20
sub: 255.255.255.0
def.G. 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1
i have done so meny time internet sharing like this and it worked well -

RamsesK Member Posts: 86 ■■□□□□□□□□here come out a question from me, can he use a crossover cable on this kind of networking? i guess he shouldn't, maybe this is giving some conflicts when the data goes throught the cable with the ICS service on both computers.
and of course the default gateway and DNS are different so you must change it so both conexions can go on the same path.Formule One Racing Addict... -

You can't connect two computers directly with a patch cable. You need some medium in between, or the crossover cable. Physically, ICS means nothing if there is no connection.i remain, he who remains to be....
