Cabling between a cable modem and a computer

I was getting a longer connection between my cable modem and computer, and I can't remember if I need a straight-through or crossover cable. I know it's straight-through between a computer and switch, and switch to router, but I"m not sure where a cable modem falls (this is for my home). It's been so long since I've done any significant cabling.

Can anyone assist?

I'm guessing it doesn't matter because all of these devices probably have their vendor's equivalent of Cisco's auto-mdix. Consider the target market for most of these devices...not always the most technically savvy people.

Straight through cable to be safe.

I have never come across a cable modem that requiers a cross over cable. I can't promise anything, but I'm just saying.
