IP Sec and Firewall IOS???

I'm getting another 2501 and it comes with IOS 12.x (not for sure exactly what version). Anyway, the standard router IOS does not have IPSec and FW. But, at no charge, I can get it pre installed on the router.

So my question is will I need IPSec and firewall on the IOS for anything related to CCNA or CCNP?

for ccna no, but for ccnp i wouldn't think so either but i wouldn't pay for the upgrade

You should try to get an IOS with IPSec. CCNP, BCRAN covers IPsec.
