I had a technical test for a job today and these where a couple of the questions & no I didn't sign anything, so I'm not breaking any rules...!!!
Is there a difference between a Shared printer & a network printer?
(True or False) also explain.
What is groupwise?
What is a Relational database?
These where just some of the questions taken from the 20 I had. I think I did ok it's for a desktop support role.
Just have to wait and see...

Well I explained that Shared is for Local printer sharing and Network printer is shared over a WAN or LAN and is not directly connected to a PC.
What is groupwise?
I knew it was Novell and I guessed it was something to do with email
What is a Relational database?
I guessed but I know I was wrong after looking it up on www.yahoo.com
It's better to guess than leave it blank i'd say........

keatron Member Posts: 1,213 ■■■■■■□□□□SQL is just one example of a relational database. SQL server would be a relational database management system. Perhaps they were looking for an explanation of what a relational database is.
Here's a couple of definitions from my SQL 2000 study guide.
A relational database is....
A database designed according to the relational model, which uses the discipline of Entity-Relationship modeling and the data design standards called normal forms.
A database in which relationships between data items are explicitly specified as equally accessible attributes
A database in the form of tables having rows and columns to show the relationships between items. If data is changed in one table, it will be changed in all related tables
An integrated repository of data in the form of tables that have rows and columns to show the relationship between items, and in which information can be cross-referenced between two or more tables to generate a third table
Hope this helps, I'm definantly not a DB guy but I do have to work with them occassionally. -
