Interview tomorrow. Kinda nervous, first interview in over 3 years at this point. Studied the company, know what kind of software they use and have a fairly decent understanding of the job overall. It's going to be a 3 on 1 type thing, which makes me even more nervous. I've been warned that i'll be asked to demonstrate my knowledge, which i'm glad to hear, I can nail that easily.
Now for the not so good news. It's a 6 month contract to potential hire, i've had 2 contracting groups fighting over me on this one. I honestly wish the other one had won out, at least then I could get benefits. I also have 4 other opportunities lined up, haven't been in this situation before. I know I need to interview with all of them, but I don't want to pass up something good.
From what I understand though should I be hired on, which barring horrible economic issues should be no problem, the pay jumps 15k upon becoming a full time employee. That's one of the sweet parts, the other is I hear they promote within very well. I've heard that before but this company has been in business about 112 years so I hope they won't outsource/offshore this one.
It's help desk, which i'm not terribly thrilled about, but if the advancement opportunities pan out it'll be worth it. Now one of the others i'm up for is a Jr. admin type role, which is exactly what i'm looking for. However I know next to nothing about it at this point aside from the job responsibilities and the company name. No pay, no contract terms and no benefit info.
It's nice to have options, but since all of it save one are through contracting groups my bargaining is limited. Let's hope one of these pans out for me.

Mike-Mike Member Posts: 1,860i think the company that hired me on has me in a similar position that you are talking about for this current interview, contract at first, hoping to go perm, with room for advancement...
I really liked the sound of the job and the company so I jumped on it..
In the past 10 years I have only had 4 interviews, I got 2 jobs, passed on 1, and didn't get called back about the other... it went this way, got the job.... didn't get the job, passed on the job... got the job...
so I think I learned from my mistakes..
dress in a suit obviously, as sharp as possible, bring resumes on resume paper, legal pad, ink pen... do your best to not be nervous... that's what tanked me on the one interview I bombed... i was craaaaaazy nervous..
this time I was calm and talked a lot, and it worked... so that's what I recommendCurrently Working On

Now, hopefully I can get some of the other places looked at as well, i'd really like the chance to keep my options open lol.WGU BS:IT Completed June 30th 2012.

Thanks! I did ask why the spot became available. There were 5 spots, turns out all 5 of them opened due to the previous 5 moving up in the company. That is exactly the type of thing I like to hear. Hopefully this works out well.WGU BS:IT Completed June 30th 2012.
