reliability calculation, propietary?

I have tried to find the way cisco equipment comes up with the reliability value (the one that shows up with the show interface command), and I have never come across with the actual formula or math expression that calculates said value.

Is it Cisco propietary?

Well, for all of you interested, this is the most detailed definition of how reliability is calculated

Reliability is a number between 0x01 and 0xFF that reflects the total outgoing error rates of the interfaces along the route, calculated on a five-minute exponentially weighted average. 0xFF indicates a 100 percent reliable link.

Maybe Im a bit retarded but I dont understand too much about it. :D
