Letter for Award

Hello,
I have been selected for a Microsoft technology award at my college and was asked by the head of the department to send him a letter of a few paragraphs summarizing experience and accomplishments and my financial needs. I am completely blank as to how to start it off and how to word it. Any ideas?

I would start by summarizing my experience an accomplishments and then add a quick note describing my financial need
I have found that the easist way to do this is to simply start typing with the assumption you are going to fix the flow using cut/paste later.
Begin by making a list of your major accomplishments and how your experience helped you achieve them. I would then make a second list of expenses to decide how much money you need. Once you have those two lists, connect the dots with transitional phrases
