Hotmail Spam

Has anyone else noticed an uptick in spam from valid hotmail accounts? I have had to report several accounts to Microsoft in the last couple of days. To their credit MS removed each of the accounts; I am still wondering why I don't see the same behavior from gmail accounts. Are gmail users that much more savvy that they have hard to crack passwords?

I've not noticed particularly much but I've got fairly aggressive antispam measures running. I know that Gmail limits the number of unique recipients you can send to which probably helps.

Its annoying though. Spambots such as Waledac are using valid but stolen email account details to send now to avoid getting blocked by RBLs. Somebody examined the latest Waledac and it has 500,000 email accounts being used. The spam comes from valid SMTP servers with valid accounts so the only way to block them is to look at the contents of the emails themselves which is less than reliable.

Can't really say that I've noticed an uptick in spam to be honest.

But recently I broke up with my girlfriend and she added me to a load of spam lists, I was getting tones of the stuff for weeks but it has since tailed off. Phew! Glad I got rid of that one!

Spam in general is going down. I am seeing an uptick in spam from legitimate hotmail email servers which is more concerning then your average spoofers since I cannot simply block all hotmail email.
