Layer 1 or 2
This might sound silly, but is a NIC a Layer 2 or Layer 1 device...
I have been exposed to the OSI model for over 5 years, starting with the CISCO classes. I have always known the NIC to be a layer 2 device. Primarly because of the MAC address. Granted there is a transiver in the device, and it comes in contact with the wire.
My recent studies have been showing that the NIC is Layer 1...
When it comes down to it... What is the NIC considered in the NET+ exam???
Thanks for your help

It's a layer 1 device with also layer 2 operations (or vice versa . So both is be the most accurate answer.
