I am torn between these two programs at WGU. I am looking to get fully into IT management and am kind of in a position where I currently do this. What is everyone's thoughts on these degrees and which holds more weight? Also would like to know how long it has been taking people to finish these degrees specifically. I am leaning towards the MBA in IT management and would really like to finish it in two terms. I am not sure if this is possible or not. I have read the forums here and cannot find something that specifically speaks of this. I could essentially offer at least 40 hrs per week to my studies.

You need to ask yourself these questions:
Do you want to run an IT shop one day? Or do you want want to deal with your organization's IT security policies (and perhaps work for someone who has the MBA in IT).
Keep in mind that WGU's MBA program is not AACSB accredited. That may/may not be a big deal for you or your prospective employer. The security one is currently going through NSA review and might get their accreditation. That might have some good weight with employers if that's the route you want to go.
How quick you finish at WGU is pretty much on you. I know the programs are demanding, whichever on you choose. Doing it in 2 years is most certainly possible. -

Usually this involves just asking your pm if you work in a small enough group if there is any work he needs assistance with and make your intent known as to why you want to help. Which is to get a closer view of what they do to see if that is what you would like to actually do down the road.
But like I said I saw this only happened a few times and I worked in close quarters with smaller teams, in a bigger corporate environment they might think you are a butt kisser and ignore you. -
-Foxer- Member Posts: 151I am currently in the MS:ISA program at WGU, and I'm 4 1/2 months into my first term. So far I've completed 6 Classes, and will have at least two more done before the end of this semester for a total of 21 CU's.
I'll should finish easily next term. So to answer your question, yes, it is possible to get done in two terms. If you have 40 hours a week just for school I don't think you'll have any problem doing that. -

I don't really have anything to tell you. You're already familiar with the way WGU works, and it's just more of the same, just more advanced. There does seem to be more writing though, but overall, it's been great so far.
