Hi

I am working as Java Trainee(Fresher) in an organization in India. The work which will be assigned to me will be of upgradation of an ERP application.
This will not applying much of Java because I will be mainly using inbuilt application functions and Java functionalities like Util package.I wanna know :

1>Is it worth to go for?

2>Is the scenario i.e. do much of the work is upgradation and maintainance?

Thanks

That depends on the salary, the work time, and the working conditions.

You would need to ask the employer about what the majority of the work involves.

In the second question,I intend to ask whether the much of the work in Global market is of upgradadtion & maintainance or of development of new softwares in IT giants.

I would say large companies have a lot of maintenance work, but smaller companies mostly write (or buy) new software. The dream is to write useful software that requires very little money to maintain. This metric is called Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). A very low TCO means software requires very little maintenance and improvement work.
