Phone for CCVP lab?

Hello All. This is my first post here. I just completed my CCNA: Voice before the Mar 1 change to v8.0. I want to start assembling a lab to get ready for CCVP 8 exams. I am going to start with one router and the Blindhog virtual setup. I realize this puts me at a disadvantage for the v8 differences but it is my only option dollar-wise. I would like to have one physical phone as well as the IP Blue phones. Any recommendations on which model would be the best mix of functionality and price? I was looking at the 7940 but I am not sure if I would be missing out on something with that model. Or am I just wasting money on the phone that I could put towards infrastructure?

Welcome aboard!

The 794x/796x are Cisco’s “flagship” enterprise phones and are EVERYWHERE. You’ll probably want a couple physical phones to play around with. They can be had fairly cheap on ebay these days if your patient enough.
