Based on the CVoice 8 exam topics it seems geared towards CME. Am I reading this correctly? I just passed the IIUC exam for the CCNA Voice and I am going for CCNP Voice.

It seem there's a section on the CME CLI also...i think it'll be rather easy to accomplish
The only thing new i've never heard of is Unified border elements. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it sound like some gatekeeper functionalities. -

CUBE - Cisco Unified Border Element - was covered in CVOICE v6 as an IP-to-IP gateway (last chapter of Kevin Wallace's book). Basically, it performs as a more robust Gatekeeper for Call Admission and Control (CAC). As you mentioned, it operates in two modes: Flow-through (default) which provides Address Hiding (therefore a proxy) and Flow-around.
Overall, the only real changes (from what I am able to determine) are the addition of CME configuration formally addressed in IIUC) and QoS topics.
As far as recommendations for study material for the new CVOICE (842-437) exam. I would recommend the following:
Amazon.com: CCNA Voice Official Exam Certification Guide (640-460 IIUC) (9781587202070): Jeremy Cioara, Michael J. Cavanaugh, Kris A. Krake: Books
Amazon.com: IP Telephony Using CallManager Express Lab Portfolio (9781587131769): Cheryl A. Schmidt, Ernie Friend: Books
Amazon.com: CCNA Voice Official Exam Certification Guide (640-460 IIUC) (9781587202070): Jeremy Cioara, Michael J. Cavanaugh, Kris A. Krake: Books
Amazon.com: Cisco QOS Exam Certification Guide (IP Telephony Self-Study) (2nd Edition) (0619472201244): Wendell Odom, Michael J. Cavanaugh: Books
There are also a number of Cisco docs dealing with CUCM, Gateway/Gatekeeper, MGCP that I found VERY helpful because there was a great deal of information in the CVOICE book that needed clairification (I lost almost ten days effective study time researching why the configs/integrations as presented in the book did not work as expected!)JohnCurrent Progress:
Studying:CCNA Security - 60%, CCNA Wireless - 80%, ROUTE - 10% (Way behind due to major Wireless Project)Exams Passed:
CCNA - 640-802 - 17 Jan 2011 -- CVOICE v6 - 642-436 - 28 Feb 2011
