Western Digital buying Hitachi unit for $4.3B - Yahoo! Finance
Wow...pure coincidence, but I bought a Western Digital 500GB 7400RPM drive to replace the Hitachi 160GB drive on the Sony PS3 I bought. I have always been comfortable with WD and/or Seagate drives. Even Maxtors.....

The 160GB never saw the light of day as the upgrade was immediate. LOL.
I opted for the 500 gigger, as I doubt I was gonna need anything more and the $50 promotional credit I got from Amazon went toward the drive. So in essense, I spent approximately the same as I would've had I bought the 160GB by itself.
