Ok.. i dont know what im missing here lol .. but all im trying to do is simply get my codecs to work correctly.
scenario CME 7 @ both locations.
CIPC ||CUBE===g729r8===WAN==g729r8===CUBE || CIPC
simple right..
my dialpeers are setup for g729.. but it wont work. getting an UNKNOWN NUMBER when attempting to dial out from either location.
Once i setup my codec for G711... everything works fine.
from what i understand, CIPC or even hard lines work just fine with 729 out the box.
any ideas?

tokhss Member Posts: 473sorry for the delay.. stupid vwic took a crap (unrelated) and i was able to bring it back to life again via my 2801 lol.. only router that can bring it back to life in my network.

frame link is only sending for interoffice routing . no sip involved.
for my sip trunk, which is not used in this call path, its h323 to sip and vise versa. -

im ready to delete nvram and start fresh lol.. will do that tomm morning. -

so.. long story short..

if all your doing is a simple dial-peer using the default g711 codec. then nothing extra needs to be done.

However, based on my findings. If your doing g711 to g729 to g711 then an INBOUND DIAL-PEER IS REQUIRED with the specified / desired WAN codec.
Example.
dial-peer voice 9 voip
description **Inbound h323 g729**
incoming called-number 500.
codec g729r8 bytes 10
dial-peer voice 9 voip
description **Inbound h323 g729**
incoming called-number 400.
codec g729r8 bytes 10
Yes, it was that simple. Without the above statement, your call will fail,. At least in my setup.
