default route in Windows 7

I have a lab network and an internet connected network. I prefer to keep the two separate, but if I plug my Windows 7 computer up to the lab network, it starts trying to route all of my internet traffic to the lab network.
Lab network = 10.0.0.0 /8
Home network = 192.168.1.0 /24
Pinging 4.4.4.4 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

I could use the route command to fix this, but how do I do it so that I don't have to worry about not being able to get on the internet from OTHER networks (e.g. when I use my computer at school and they're not using the 192.168.1.0 network).

Edit: More logical alternate solution?
I'm thinking about just connecting my lab to the home LAN and setting a default route in the Lab to the internet connected router. Would that make more sense than mucking around in windows? Seems like it would be a pain in the rear having to mess with the default route in an OS when the computer could be connected to so many different networks.
