Question about frame-relay route command

So the syntax of the frame-relay route command is:

frame-relay route [input-dlci] interface [output-interface] [output-dlci]

Since the first part means something like this: "Frame-relay traffic with dlci [input-dlci] gets forwarded out interface [output-interface]. What is output dlci referring to? Does it serve as some sort of "source dlci" saying this is where this traffic came from?

Remember, this is a Frame-relay switch configuration, the outgoing interface is just another frame-relay link with a destination on the end of it, therefore it needs a locally significant dlci for that destination.
