Hi All,

Just want to know if anyone has found a way to get this cert without sitting a full 5 day course. I am happy to pay the money for the course but want to either do it at nights or weekends or online self paced. Being a contractor its already a few grand on course cost i dont want to add to the bill by taking a week off.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very interested to know.

Cheers

If you don't take the course with VMware or an Authorized Training Center, your only other option is to register with an Academic learning partner - but places are limited and it will take you weeks to gain qualification for VCP certification.

Would these count for someone in Australia?

I'd find it pretty unusual if having a VCP did not give you further opportunities as a contractor - and give you some reward in the mid-term in the way of being able to pick up new contracts. Speculate to accumulate etc etc.

I train a good number of contractors, and they frequently mention that not only do they have to pay for their own training but they also don't get paid while they're being trained. Personally, I think it's all part of the decision to be a contractor in the first place. Another decision to be made as a contractor is whether to invest in yourself and your CV exactly as you say - a number of the contractors I train are in-between contracts and want their VCP quickly to help them in the future.

It would certainly count for VCP certification with VMware as all their certification programs are worldwide. Here's a full list of all VMware academy partners, there are 10 in Australia apparently:

You can check with the source by sending a quick email to certification@vmware.com to confirm - they respond within a day or two. I did this confirm that the UCSC online course was valid for VCP.

only problem with the Australian providers is they are either still classroom based training or have no information listed for vmware courses. Can anyone recommended or point out any providers that offer a self paced online training that entitles you to take the VCP certification other than UCSC they look good but really want something starting soon.

    Thanks

As I've already suggested, if you want something starting soon and you want to get qualified as a VCP soon, your only option really is to take the 5-day ICM course either with VMware or a VATC. It won't be self-paced, but you can do it online from anywhere in the world.

The academic institutions are much more restricted in terms of their method of delivery, number of places, and the length of time it takes to complete their course.

UCSC has this course in a earling format. I don't have time to do a 5 day straight course, but just wanting to know if there are any other providers that do this same course and starting before July 7??
