Structured Cabling certifications?
boxvic
Does anyone know of any structured cabling certifications that you can study for and take at a proctor center like most IT certifications?
I started studying for my Network+/and or CCNA in hopes of making myself more attractive to firms that do the physical installation and maintenance of data networks, audio video systems, phone systems, and automation.
As I've been studying I've started considering trying for actual IT jobs or furthering education (I have an A.A.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology); and I'm interested in networking but I realize I'm still very interested in the actual installation side of things.
I have found a few like the Bicsi, but the ones I have found are all tied to their training programs which are only offered at set locations. I need something I can study myself and then take at a local testing center.

Not sure on just a test, as most (if not all) cabling certifications will have some sort of practical test.
You could look into the
Data Cabling Installer Certification
(DCIC) from the
ETA-i
. They have several testing centres around the US/World.
