set vtp password to existing vtp domain

50 switches all in the same vtp domain with no vtp password
2 vtp servers
48 vtp clients

What happens when I add a vtp password to the vtp servers?

Do I lose all vlans on clients or do they not receive updates until they have the correct password?

You will not lose your VLANs if your simply adding a VTP password to your existing domain. The new VTP password will have to be entered in to each switch for VTP updates to be propagated throughout the domain as normal.
