Virtual OSes and 70-685

Hi Guys,
I've just started studying for the 70-685. So far I find it more interesting than the 680 material.
I'm a bit confused about the virtualization aspects though.
If I'm already running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, is there any need to install Win 7 on VirtualBox? Can I even do this - i.e. running the same OS virtual as the OS I am running the system on? Doesn't that actually count as having installed the OS twice, thus it won't let you do it?
Then there's Server 2008 R2 - this is apparently recommended to run virtualized, but I'm not clear how it fits in with the exam or the objectives.
Can anyone shed any light on these matters? Thanks

The Windows 7 exams are heavily focused on using the OS in an enterprise/domain environment. It's not a requirement to study this way but great real world practice and a common path to the server exams.
